FixMyCar reveals which premium cars have the lowest average maintenance costs.
Buying a new car is an exciting experience. It's easy to let your heart rule your head without considering the practicalities, such as annual running costs, which can soon add up when you're in the market for something a little more premium.
FixMyCar is here to make the decision-making process as straightforward as possible by taking a closer look at the average maintenance costs of the best premium models on the road today.

Methodology
We compiled a list of the best luxury and premium cars for 2024 according to Autocar, WhatCar? and Top Gear. Then, using FixMyCar's data from 2023 and 2024, we looked at the average price of a full service, interim service, MOT and aircon regas for each model.
The final step was to calculate the total average price per model, which we used to determine the order of our top ten list.

The cheapest car to maintain
The cheapest premium car to maintain is the Jaguar XJ with an overall cost of £483.61, beating Audi's A8 model by just 30 pence.

Data insights
The cheapest premium model for an aircon regas is the Lexus LS (£62.94). The most expensive is the Mercedes S-Class (£105.27).
Lexus LS owners end up paying the most on average for a full service (£253.86), and Jaguar XF owners pay the least (£218.19).
The most expensive premium model for an interim service is the Range Rover (£184.69), and the cheapest is the classic Alpha Romeo Stelvio (£124.92).
When it's time for an MOT, Stelvio owners also see the lowest prices (£42.94 on average), while Range Rover Sport drivers end up paying the most (£45.98).
