WhoCanFixMyCar explains how much Toyota MOTs cost, including the average price across different models.
Toyota is best known for its hybrid motor excellence and innovative technologies. Its cars are some of the most reliable on the market and the vast majority are highly affordable - both new and used.
Chances are, if you’re interested in purchasing a Toyota, you probably have an eye for good value, which is why you’ll also want to know how much your new car is likely to cost to maintain. Well, WhoCanFixMyCar is here to help.
Below, we’ve created a table showing the average cost for an MOT across the different Toyota models.
The average cost of an MOT test for a Toyota is £40.80. However, this price naturally varies from one model to the next, as you can see from our data table.
|Toyota Land Crusier||£38.31|
The cheapest Toyota model for an MOT is surprisingly the Land Cruiser, which costs £38.31. It has a reputation for 4x4 capacity that, according to Auto Trader, even exceeds that of the Land Rover and Jeep. The interior isn’t particularly glamorous or luxurious, and any revisions to recent versions of the car have been pretty minimal due to Toyota’s secure market position, but if you’re looking for tonnes of space and relentless reliability, this is the car for you.
In second place is one of the world’s most famous pickup trucks, the Toyota Hilux, at £38.89. Since 1968, Toyota has sold over 18 million of these sturdy and reliable trucks, but in recent years has lost some of its market share to the likes of the Ford Ranger Wild Track.
It would certainly survive almost anything, but the sub-par looks of the Hilux are no longer enough to satisfy for many consumers.
Winning the title of most expensive model for an MOT is the Toyota C-Hr with an average price of £43.07. Designed to compete with the likes of the Audi Q2 and Mini Countryman - a feat which, in our opinion, it doesn’t quite achieve - the C-Hr is a crossover SUV with plenty of interesting exterior design features to look at.
Following closely behind the C-Hr is the Prius, which is arguably one of the most well-known of Toyota’s models due to the fact that it has been around for so long. Since ‘97, 2.6 million Prius cars (such as the one pictured below) have been sold, making it the world’s most popular hybrid. It costs £42.11 on average for an MOT.
