Occasionally, jobs posted on FixMyCar don’t receive any quotes from local garages. We understand that this can be frustrating, but you shouldn’t give up just yet – here’s what to do next.
Four things to try if you don't get any quotes
1. Try a different address
The lack of quotes could be due to your area having limited network coverage or the local garages being extremely busy.
If you have a friend or family member who isn’t too far away, you could try entering their address to see if you get any results. The same goes for nearby towns and cities – it's worth testing a few different postcodes from areas within a distance you’re willing to travel.
You can also find garages that are a bit further away by opening the map on the quotes page and clicking ‘find more garages’ in the top left corner.

Top tip: Filter for garages that offer a courtesy car to minimise the inconvenience of having to travel further for a repair.
2. Look for a mobile mechanic
If you didn't get any quotes for your original job post, try requesting a mobile version of the service you need.
Many car repairs and maintenance services can be done by mobile mechanics who travel the distance so you don't have to. They can come to your home, place of work or anywhere else as long as it's safe.
Read about the advantages of using a mobile mechanic.
3. Request a diagnostic quote

If you’re trying to compare prices for a complex repair job, mechanics may be hesitant to provide a quote for the work without inspecting the vehicle first.
In this situation, you’ll probably have more luck booking a diagnostic test. This allows your chosen mechanic to assess the problem in person and give you a more accurate price estimate for a repair.
4. Request quotes directly
You can also request quotes directly from local garages.
From your profile home page, click ‘view quotes’ on your most recent job post.
Click ‘find more garages’ at the bottom of the page.
You will see a list of garages in your area.
Click the ‘request a quote’ button next to any garages you’re interested in.
Although this doesn’t guarantee you’ll receive a response, it gives the garage an extra nudge by showing that you are genuinely interested in making a booking with them.
5. Try our self-help content

Some maintenance jobs – like changing a bulb or replacing the battery - can be done at home with a bit of time and know-how.
