During this worldwide period of uncertainty with the coronavirus pandemic, we are relying on our cars to get around perhaps more than ever. With social distancing a necessity, and public transport many of us rely on increasingly unavailable, cars are now the primary way for key workers to get about.

Contactless forms of communication are necessary, so just how does that translate into car repairs and servicing?

We want to help, therefore we have compiled some safe and contactless ways to keep your car moving:

Opt for a Mobile Mechanic

Mobile mechanics can come to you and complete car repairs or servicing on your drive. This eliminates the stress of getting to a garage and trying to remain at a safe social distance and organise a pick up. If the work is carried out on your driveway, there is no need to even leave the house.

Additionally, all of our garages and mobile mechanics are undertaking all necessary precautions to stay safe, from regular hand-washing to wiping down the dashboard, steering wheel and door handles after completing work and giving every vehicle an exterior wash if possible.

Have your car collected and delivered for a service

Many of our garages offer this service, and it means you do not need to leave the house. Safe collection and delivery will ensure isolation is maintained, simply look out for this icon when booking your repair/service:

It also means that you are not fretting over pick up times and waiting around for a job to be completed; when the mechanics are done, they will return your car hassle-free.

Contactless Refuelling

Petrol stations remain open (as of 24.3.20) and you have a few options for contactless refuel. You can pay at the pump, use gloves to operate the buttons and opt for contactless card payment (make sure the cost is £30 or lower to be able to do this).

You can also download Shell’s ‘Fill Up and Go’ app where you can pay on the app and avoid contact with the payment buttons. Still make sure to wear gloves to operate the pump.

Also, an idea of something to keep you occupied whilst social distancing is to clean your car. So long as you keep your distance from neighbours, you can catch a bit of fresh air by giving your car a deep clean. You will feel good about yourself after and your car will look good as new!

Most importantly of all during this time, stay safe.
