As you probably know, we have a slight obsession with cars and like most people, we can’t get enough of high-speed chases and incredible car-themed action on film.
The internet is already full of lists talking about the best driving films such as; The Italian Job, Gone in 60 Seconds, Drive and the Fast and Furious movies, however, we couldn’t find ANY giving attention to the women who have torn up the road on film…
So here is our tribute to the top five bad ass women drivers on ever!
1. Bonny Parker – Bonny and Clyde
Played by the stunning former model Faye Dunaway, Bonny Parker was a real life gangster made infamous by the 1967 film Bonny and Clyde.
Tearing through the US stealing and terrorising country folk, the couple came to a bloody end in one of the most notorious shoot-outs in American history.
Despite their criminal acts, Bonny and Clyde are revered in the States and the car they died in (Ford V8) remains on display in Whiskey Pete’s Casino in Primm, Nevada!
2. Thelma and Louise
Alright, we know we’re naming two women here but it wouldn’t be fair to choose one would it?!
Played by Susan Sarandon and Greena Davis, Thelma and Louise kill a rapist at the start of the 1991 hit film and flee to Mexico in their gorgeous 66 Thunderbird.
The two women are free of their mundane lives and controlling partners on the road and form an unbreakable bond while on the run. Proper girl power.
3. Imperator Furiosa – Mad Max Fury Road
A woman with a metal claw for a forearm isn’t likely to be the type of person you want to mess with.
Charlize Theron plays the battle hardened and formidable Furosa in the stunning 2015 film Mad Max and her role was celebrated by women worldwide.
Going toe to toe with Tom Hardy (Max) as a warrior of the road, Furiosa embarks on a desperate escape mission in George Millers masterpiece.
Gunning enemies down while hitting the throttle as hard as any man, this is one woman you would not shout at when you have road rage!
4. Beatrix Kiddo – Kill Bill Volume I and II
How do you follow up from a skin-head desert warrior?!
There is only one character who could, Beatrix Kiddo, played by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill Volume I and II is arguably the most lethal woman to have ever appeared on film.
Utilising a number of cars to hunt down the people who left her in a coma for years, Thurman delivered a thrilling performance in one of the bloodiest Tarintino films ever.
Driving the 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible Type 14 in the final act of the second film, Beatrix looks formidable sitting next to her Katana while on her way to, finally, kill Bill…
5. Letty – Fast & Furious
Appearing in 5 of the Fast and Furious films, Michelle Rodriguez is possibly the most ferocious woman in the series.
You would have to be pretty bloody hard to go up against The Rock and Vin Diesel!
Gearing up in a huge number of chases scenes and stunts, Letty demonstrates her formidable skills behind the wheel in each film in which she features.
