Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation last night (23/03/2020) with the latest update on the coronavirus pandemic.
Stricter measures have been employed across the UK; a police-enforced lockdown. This has been imposed in attempts to stop the coronavirus outbreak from spreading.
People are limited to one exercise per day outdoors (while adhering to social distancing) and travel is restricted to those journeying to and from essential work. These critical workers have been outlined in a government document.
The key message that relates to garages is that they are allowed to remain open.
Much of the retail sector has also been shutdown. Although, supermarkets remain open in order for people to buy basic necessities. Pharmacies, petrol stations and post offices are also amongst those who can stay open amid the lockdown phase of the UK’s fight against Covid-19.
A number of other retail services remain open, including garages.
Garages have been advised that they can remain open if sensible: most garages on our site remain open for business.
Garages are able to identify whether or not they are open, allowing any users of WhoCanFixMyCar.com to still book any required repairs or servicing.
If you require any additional advice on navigating car repairs/servicing whilst adhering to social distancing or indeed isolation, read our guide on contactless ways to keeping your car moving.
NOTE THAT ONLY ESSENTIAL TRAVEL IS PERMITTED DURING LOCKDOWN, AND FOR CRITICAL WORKERS TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM THEIR JOB.
