The problem turned out to be a worn out battery.  The mechanic who came was very polite and helpful.  not only did he diagnose the dead battery but also gave me advice on the squeaking noise which in his opinion is a worn out fan belt and tensioner.

Highly recommend the garage and mechanic.  very good service.  Like many people i get nervous dealing with mechanics, but no such anxieties this time.  wonderful people to talk to, very patient, understanding and helpful.  I'd definitely seek them out for next time.

Very pleased with the service, work was explained in basic terms and I understood everything they were doing, the mechanic answered all my questions and completed the job in a proffessional manner. Happy with the price as it wasn't an easy job removing the gearbox and he did work for his money. 

Meant to come one day but didn't show, came the next day and couldn't complete the job. When they did eventually did the job, I was charged an extra £50 when we'd agreed a price of £200. Not the best experience.
