Locating the garage was a bit tricky if you don't know Ashton but the service was excellent and I would recommend Ashton Motor Services highly.

The garage rang to say that they had made a mistake by quoting for a petrol engine instead of diesel ( another £60.00 ). Luckily the car didn't need a fly wheel ( another £220 ) but they phoned again to say that there was a lever and bearing that did need replacing ( another £40.00 ) . That being said they kept me informed, and were polite, friendly, and kept to the timetable for repairing the clutch. The last call told me that their card reader had broken down, so could I pay by cash? The final cost and turn round for completing the work plus warranty was good so I am a happy customer. Now that I understand the terms and conditions I would use them again.

Great job completed quickly and at £150 cheaper than we had been quoted elsewhere.  I would definitely recommend them.

I took my Mazda 6 to this guy for a wheel bearing replacement. Should be a relatively simple job. He replaced the wheel bearing after having to order a special Mazda one in and then sent me on my way. As I drove away my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I spoke with the guy the next day as he was already closed by this point and he said it's probably the ABS sensor. He said there's a 50/50 chance that the sensor will need replacing whenever you replace a wheel bearing (apparently only true if you don't know what you're doing). He ordered an ABS sensor which arrived almost 2 weeks later, and it was the wrong one. Yet again had to wait almost 2 weeks for the right one. When it finally arrived and was fitted, the lights on my dash refused to leave. Not only that but there was a scraping sound coming from the wheel whenever I drove anywhere, and the car was pulling to the side. In the end I relented and took the car to a more experienced garage, who told me that this guy had messed everything up. The wheel bearing was put on the wrong way round, the ABS sensor wasn't right and hadn't been set up properly, and to top it all off he'd destroyed my ABS hub with a drill after trying to get the ABS sensor plug out of its socket. Everything had to be completely rebuilt and an original £140 bill turned into well over £700 to repair the damage. I just don't appreciate someone telling me that they can do a job when they're only assuming that they can. When it comes to cars you NEED to know what you're doing before you even attempt something, because (as was proven in this case) you can cause even more damage. Such a waste of time and money! I surely won't be going for the cheapest option in the future. I'll be giving my money to someone who will do the job right first time. Luckily I managed to get my money refunded, but that doesn't get me close to what I had to pay to fix everything.
