The whole experience with this garage has been nothing short of a disaster. First, poor contact - having dropped the car off for service and MOT I had heard nothing for several days, so had to chase them up how it was going. Oh, its all done they say. Exccept the MOT had failed due to a wiper. So why didn't they ring me and tell me that? So I tell them to replace the wiper and have it re-tested. I ask them to contact me next time which, give them credit, they did.
So I go to pick up the car, the service history book had not been stamped so I have to ask the only mechanic there to do that. And specifically ask again for the MOT certificate. I think the bloke was clearly a million miles away after coming back from his holidays.
Much more seriously, after the comedic handover I turn on the ignition in the garage and the Engine Management Light is on. And the engine sounds like a bag of spanners. So I ask the mechanic to have a look, which he does. He takes it for a quick spin and resets the warning light and gave me some story about the exhaust why it might sound rough.
Now I am not a mechanic. Thats why I pay to get it serviced. But it is now very clear the car is misfiring, and having read up for a few hours there's a few possible reasons. But I don't understand how a trained mechanic could work on that car and not pick up on it. Poor customer service and basic attention to detail - my theory is they're trying to do too many jobs in the least amount of time to make up for the fact they're cheap.
As they say, buy cheap buy twice, as I'm now having to get my car looked at again. And it definitely won't be at Aldermere Service Centre.
