Well this had been an "interesting experience." Thought i would save myself some hassle by using this website and get some quotes from local garages. This was only good in theory. I added all my details to the system including the registration and therefore the age of the vehicle. When i accepted C.E.M Day Ford's offer (I have a Ford), i contacted them and the standard price of my major service leapt to £305. C.E.M Ford explained that they charge 0-3 years old vehicles a "scheduled service" to use against the warranty, and £215 for a "Major service" for those out of Warranty or more than 4 years old. The difference between Scheduled and Major is A) the name and B) a pollen filter. Other customers may be happy with this arbitrary arrangement, but as a first time Ford Customer, it left me with a bad taste. The official reason for the price lift is to attract customers with cars older than 4 years old (and repel those who have just forked out on new ones?) In regards to the quotation of £215 increasing to £305 on contact, CEM ford explained this was due to them not knowing the age of the vehicle when making the quote. Who can Fix my car .com have explained that the referral to C. E. M FORD contains the registration of the vehicle and therefore they can tell the age of the vehicle. who can fix my car .com said, businesses do not have to honour the quote they give, making the website a little redundant? In the end I became "that customer," as I could over hear them talking whilst they transferred my call. In fairness to me, if someone jumped the price of your haircut by £90 you would not be happy to pay, why should it matter if its a car Garage? Pollen filters do not cost £90. I feel fully welcomed to FORD.
