Kept informed of work being done.would use this garage again
Satisfied with service
Good service they collected and dropped off my car which was helpful
Quick and professional, very happy with the service
Had a throttle body replaced on my micra, fast great job done and brilliant service will use again
Great service, my minor oil leak was caused by a botched service from an Ivybridge garage who damaged the oil filter seal. Matt picked the car up, changed the oil and filter, and returned all in the same day. If you want to use a local family service who is reliable nd great value for money, use this company!
A genuine garage who’s not just after your money! Friendly guy even collected my car from my house and dropped it off! Will be using this garage for any further work I have on my car.
Matt and Claire kept me regularly up dated on the progress and went the extra mile to get ithe work finished at the earliest opportunity. They lent me a courtesy car and carried out a free valet of the car once the work was completed. Far better service that I have ever had at a main dealer and all at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this business and have no hesitation in using them when my next service is due. The NHS/Ex Forces discount was much appreciated.
These guys were ace!! Fitted a new clutch for me and worked over the weekend when they could have easily said no like other garages I phoned. Went the extra mile to get my car sorted so I could drive my family back to bristol. Mega friendly and efficient. My only problem Is they are in Plymouth and not my own city. Would definitely recommend
Recently crashed my car so had bought a cheapish runaround to get to work in the meantime for 1k. Now you never expect a car with 90k miles at that price to be fault free but very soon on I had to replace the clutch. Having just forked out for a new car and clutch in the leadup to Christmas, the bank was feeling it. I broke the news to a rather annoyed wife. A day after the clutch was replaced (by another garage) ,I was enjoying the feel of a brand new responsive clutch and feeling hopeful once more.. then the alternator died. At 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. After an hour I managed to get towed home and awaited the inevitable "I told you so" from the wife. In my desperation I googled garages in Plymouth and discovered this website. Would anyone answer the call of a desperate husband at this hour!? YES. Just one garage came to the rescue - BENN AND SONS. A very quick response and reasonable quote came through. And YES they agreed to open up on a Sunday to fix my car ( they charged standard labour rate too - on a Sunday). After exchanging a few messages, Matt (of BENN AND SONS) wasn't sure he could get an alternator at such short notice but nevertheless say he would do his best. He arranged a tow truck to pick my car up on Sunday morning for £25. Much better than the £90 callout my breakdown cover was offering. They picked the car up to the garage and I awaited good news. An hour or so later Matt messaged saying they did not have the part in stock but had gone to the supplier to collect it for me and was about to fit the new alternator. By 3pm I had a call saying it was finished - they even picked me up from my home to collect my car. What can I say? EXCELLENT customer service. This garage will go above and beyond for their customers to ensure satisfaction, and he did a very good job. Overall, I am very happy and would recommend to anyone who needs a garage in Plymouth. I will be using BENN AND SONS again.

The majority of modern cars have air conditioning fitted as standard as it is vital for making the ride in a car comfortable for passengers.
An air conditioning system works by using refrigerant gas to push air through several components in the aircon system and then into your car.
Whether its freezing cold or boiling hot, it’s your air conditioning which makes driving in such conditions bearable, so it’s important to look after the system!
Surprisingly, over 10% of air-con gas escapes through the system each year. This means that the power of the system drops significantly over time. However, your air conditioning will not be checked during an MOT or service which is why it’s important that you make an effort to have it checked specifically.
Car manufacturers recommend that cars should have their air con recharged (Regassed) every two years.
Even if your car is new it should be something that you have checked as your cars performance could be significantly affected.
This is because the engine will have to work harder to produce cold air if there is an issue with the air conditioning meaning more fuel will be required to make the system work.
If the system has not been recharged in two years, the drop in engine performance will be noticeable.
As soon as you realise a drop in the power of your air con you should take the vehicle in for repair. If there is an unpleasant smell being emitted, this is another sign that the air con needs looking at.
The job of recharging air conditioning is not complex and will not take long.
The mechanic will carry out a leaks check on the air con system before the repair work, to ensure the job can be carried out without causing damage to the car.
As soon as this is complete, the technician will be able to recharge the system.
The mechanic carrying out the work will first remove old refrigerant from your car as well as the current gas and lubricant.
They will then replace it with new gas and lubricants.
The job will also typically include an entire system clean out which is carried out to remove any bacterial build up.
This is often the reason for a strange or unpleasant smell being emitted from the air conditioning which is why it is important to have this job completed every two years.
The whole process should take around 45 minutes as there are no new parts required for install.
The air conditioning in your car should be noticeably improved after a regas if you haven’t had one for over two years.
If you want to ensure your air conditioning stays in tip top condition, make sure to use it regularly as this the compressor will stay lubricated.Finding a mechanic you can trust to do a good job and charge a fair price, is not always easy, which is why we simplified the process.
We work with a network of over 10,000 mechanics and garages across the UK so we can find competitive air conditioning regas deals for you.
You can then compare the quotes and read reviews from previous customers to find the best deal in your area, before booking aircon regas online.
