If you're looking to book any repair work for an Alfa Romeo 159, you can easily compare quotes from our network of thousands of garages and mechanics, find the best price and instantly book online.
Alfa Romeo is a quintessentially Italian carmaker known for the style and elegance of its sporty vehicles. In a 2008 episode of Top Gear, Hammond, Clarkson and May set out to prove that you can't be a proper petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa. The brand's iconic status also stretches beyond the small screen, with its cars appearing in a slew of blockbusters, including The Godfather, The Graduate, Octopussy and The Talented Mr Ripley.
At the 2022 Autocar Awards, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was named a future classic, earning praise for being "sublime to drive and beautiful to look at" - a statement that perfectly captures the spirit of the brand.
The Alfa Romeo 159 is a four-door saloon produced between 2004 and 2011, intended as an alternative to conventional models like the BMW 3 Series. It is also available as a ‘Sport Wagon' estate model with a maximum speed of 134.2 mph, achieving 0-60 in about eight seconds. At the 2006 European Car of the Year Awards, the 159 came in third place, and it won a design award at the Fleet World Honours ceremony that same year.
Turbochargers, usually called turbos, are designed to give your car extra power. They are only activated at certain speeds and work by forcing more air into the engine, increasing the strength of the combustion. You can read more about how turbochargers work here.
Common signs of turbo failure include a loss of power, difficulty maintaining high speeds, slower acceleration, grey/blue exhaust smoke, and a dashboard warning light. If your car shows any of these symptoms, you may need to book a turbo repair.
In some cases, a repair may not be possible, in which case a turbo replacement is required. Turbo reconditioning or turbo refurbishment is a restorative process that gives older turbos a new lease of life. If you need to replace your turbo, opting for a refurbished rather than a brand-new one is usually cheaper. Consult a turbo specialist for advice about the best option for your car.
