Alfa Romeo is a quintessentially Italian carmaker known for the style and elegance of its sporty vehicles. In a 2008 episode of Top Gear, Hammond, Clarkson and May set out to prove that you can't be a proper petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa. The brand's iconic status also stretches beyond the small screen, with its cars appearing in a slew of blockbusters, including The Godfather, The Graduate, Octopussy and The Talented Mr Ripley. At the 2022 Autocar Awards, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was named a future classic, earning praise for being "sublime to drive and beautiful to look at" - a statement that perfectly captures the spirit of the brand.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has a long history, spanning from 1954 when it was introduced at the Turin Motor Show. The 750 and 101 series, offered as a family sedan, roadster and coupe, ceased production in 1965. The most recent introduction of the Giulietta came in 2010. It was launched as a five-door hatchback, with the standard 1.4 petrol engine doing 0-60 mph in just under eight seconds, and it came second at the European Car of the Year Awards in 2011.
Few things are as frustrating for a driver as realising your car doesn't have as much power as it should. Small changes in performance matter and are most noticeable during acceleration. Your car may suddenly lose and then regain power or feel sluggish all the time; either way, it's clear there's something wrong.A loss of power can often be traced back to a problem in the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter, faulty injectors or a malfunctioning MAF sensor. Running a cleaning additive through the system every so often can help prevent issues like these from developing. However, the fuel system isn't always to blame. As discussed in this guide, an ECU error or a clogged catalytic converter can also make your car lose power - that's why you should take note of any other symptoms that could help pinpoint the cause. These may include unusual exhaust smoke (blue, white or black) and rough idling.
