Very good service although pick up time of the car was delayed as they were particularly busy that day. I had requested additional work to be carried out during/ after the service and this was not charged due to the delay. Overall very impressed and would use them again.
Great service, came on time, good quality brake pads. Will use again.
Used the website expecting a few emails. ELITE stood out as the only garage that text. Due to being mobile was easy to use, as they come to you. Great customer service and regular text updates. Will use again! Thanks
James was on time, friendly and efficient. Have asked for a full service quote, as I was extremely impressed today.

Fantastic, open and honest garage/mechanic/owner. Front pads, discs, oil and filter change all at a very good price. Will be going back for future repair work, will be recommending to family and friends. Five stars.
Excellent customer service at a very fair price, car feels like new after the clutch and flywheel were replaced. Couldn’t recommend enough and will be returning for future work!
Really decent guy, worked hard to get my clutch fixed and when I realised I had another fault after he fixed that, booked me in that week to fix that. Was really helpful, reasonably priced, explained everything in detail and did a great job. Also stuck to the quoted price and didnt mess me about like some mechanics out there would. Would highly recommend, and will be using again if I need work done. Clutch feels better than it ever has! Thank you!
Very happy with the service we had a call to say the auxiliary belts needed changing and we only paid for the parts they didn’t charge any extra labour. Will definitely use again
Great service and a good job.
Brilliant service. Very quick on replying, booked me in the next day. Went through the problem with my clutch and fitted and returned same day. Really helpful, i will stick with this garage for further work my car may need in the future.
Asked for genuine parts so slightly more expensive vs. initial quote - but was happy to pay for the OEM parts. Service itself was excellent. My girlfriend left feeling very happy with both the service she recieved and the warm and welcoming people working at Small Car Services. The guys seems knowledgeable over the phone to talk to and the price was competitive. We will definitely be coming back if the car needs more work in the future.
Dean was great job done promptly and on price. Been back since for other job.
Unfortunately the car was worse of than first thought but they tried they're hardest to help me. Lovely blokes very friendly and very polite. Would definitely use again have recommended to my sister and some freinds
Brilliant and efficient service, thank you!
Very happy with the work carried out. Thank you.
Yes, they dealt with my small problem with my car very quickly to my satisfaction. Would use again.
Absolutely great service. Was really happy with the price and the guys did the work really efficiently. Would definitely recommend and use again!
Good price. Excellent service. Loan car available with no fuss or paperwork. Ready when they said it would be. Brilliant experience. No idea how good the disc and pad parts are as I'm not a mechanic, but the brakes work well and I have every reason to believe they'll last 0000's of miles. Likely to use again. Well done SCC!
Started working on my car as soon as we arrived, and in a little over two hours job done, very pleased with the price and the quality of work I had to add an extra job that I had not put in the original quote but this was also done without any fuss.
Cheap quotes doesn’t always mean that work done are not to professional level in this case small car services was the cheapest quote i got for a brake disc and pads change. Being a full time student this was under my budget and the past reviews was really good therefore i gave it a chance. Dean was really helpful even went ahead to find me a replacement caliper as mine had seized . Friendly and fast service done to high standard and professional. I’ll definetly come back to get some work done on my honda civic ep3 type r. Cheers
amazing service and happy with the price, have used them again already, well recommended, great mechanic.
A brake, or brake pad is a system that safely enables a car to stop. Brakes get rid of the kinetic energy that helps the car move, which is done by using force of friction to convert this motion of energy into heat. Your car's braking system is made up of the following components: Brake discs, which spin with your car's wheels, Brake Pads, which push on the discs to slow the car, Brake Calipers which hold, and push, the pads, Brake Lines (or 'Hoses') which carry Brake Fluid, and your Brake Master Cylinder and Servo, which work to amplify the effort you use when pushing the brake pedal. Wear or failure of any one of these components will cause braking problems, requiring repair.
Modern cars have brakes on all four wheels which are operated by a hydraulic system and are made up of several components all of which are subject to stress which could result in breakage.
The front brakes in a car are typically the ones which play the greater part in bringing a car to stop as the weight of the car is thrown forward every time the vehicle comes to a stop.
There are different systems used for braking from one car to the next which suits the needs of the vehicle size and function.
The common hydraulic system uses fluid to apply pressure to pistons in the car close to its wheels to bring the car to a halt.
Some cars also have power brake assistance which helps to reduce the amount of effort required to apply stopping power.
If you need to have your brakes repaired there are several issues that could have caused the problem and several things that could be affected.
If you suspect you need your brakes repaired but your car is still drivable, there are some symptoms which could give you clues as to what the problem is.
The brakes are often the noisiest part of a car if there is an issue which means you should be able to hear a problem which cannot be said of many other broken car parts. Therefore, noticing the need for a car brake repair should be obvious. But you can check faulty brake symptoms here.
Brake pads are a critical component of a car and a vehicle cannot come to a halt without them functioning properly. Brake pads are fitted to the brake calipers which push the pads into the brake discs which are fitted to a car wheel. When a car is moving, the pads grip the discs to slow down the wheel and thus slow the car down.
A high amount of heat energy is created from the resulting friction as explained above and over time, this will wear brake pads down.
Brake pad replacement is a common job, the work to remove a worn-down-set is not complex so if you require a brake pad replacement, the repair will not be a lengthy one.
If you would like to understand how to tell when your brakes need servicing read our dedicated guide.
Brake discs are fitted to the car wheel itself and they are gripped by the brake pads.
Brake discs replacement is more expensive; the parts are more expensive than pads. Often pads are placed at the same time the discs are replaced.
If a mechanic advises you to replace your brake discs, they will likely suggest replacing the pads at the same time due to a the low cost of the part and the little extra labour time needed.
The cost of brake pad replacement may vary depending on the car make and model. This is because there are different sizes of brake pads and the cost increases as they get bigger. For example, a Land Rover will require a bigger set of brake pads as opposed to a Fiat Punto.

If you specifically require brake disc replacement, the work will take a similar amount of time to a brake pad replacement.
However, as highlighted above, the cost will be more expensive that pads due to the parts pricing.
Brake pads are changed by removing the wheel and unscrewing the bolts which hold the part in place. The part is then simply taken off the brake caliper and a new brake pad is fitted. The same process will be applied for each of the pads that need to be replaced.
There are many other common issues which can arise with the braking system which are not connected to brake pads and discs issues. The brake lines are susceptible to leakage as brake fluid can leak from the system if rust is untreated. The master cylinder is also a part of the braking system which can become faulty.
