Amazing service very fast
Nice work, thanks Suhail.
First visit to the garage. Quite happy with their job, definatelly I will trust them again.
Dropped off in the morning for all round pads & Discs to be fitted, collected same day in the afternoon, Sterling job!! - well impressed, quote was also a competitive bargain. Brilliant professional blokes at 'All 4 Wheels'. - Definitely going back for all future jobs I need. A+
They were great, I had been quoted £95 for a new wing mirror to be sprayed and fitted. In the event I didn't need to have the paint work done so they just fitted the mirror for me as I stood there. As I didn't need all of the work they had quoted more for they charged me less than I was quoted. Even though they are not my closest garage, I would definitiely use again
Fair price very pleased with the result warm and cold air thanks alot David Griffin
The customer service was great, however I paid for a partial service as my oil had been done a week before, but was still charged £135 and after leaving th garage I did see I had an oil leak that could have been easily fixed but was not, I would have thought this would be part of the service. However I could be wrong.
Great service, looked at the car almost straight away and found the problem, got the part and fixed - no hassle, easy and straight forward. Dread to think what a main dealer would have made of such a simple issue, but Barnside did what they needed to and what was convenient. Highly recommend.
Very professional & helpful garage where the customer comes first.
Amazing service with friendly people. Will be using again
Overall Anees was quite upfront and explained the changes to the original quote. Only element of surprise was the confusion around the actual DISCS needed, as my BMW 530d M Sport is quite a common car, and there are hundreds of them around.
Excellent service by knowledgeable staff. Quality parts used. Would use again!
Dropped off the car around 2pm and had it back around 5pm so great service as far as I'm concerned
Very happy with the work done
Booked appointment, but repair did not go through, excellent communication.
I asked for a quote for replacement brakes and pads having been quoted £250+ by the likes of Kwik Fit and Halfords autocentre. Got an amazing quote from Jon at SMS on a sunday afternoon and then after a couple of messages back and forth to relay the fact that i needed the car fixing urgently he managed to squeeze me in the next day! Added to that he also collected and then delivered the car back for free and even changed a couple of tyres that needed doing. Overall excellent and very courteous service. I'll be using SMS again.
Great guys, picked up the car early in the morning on a Saturday and had it back by lunch, gave me great honest advise. Will be using again, great price and great service!
Very good service by SMS Motors for a clutch replacement for my Ford Focus saloon. They collected and returned the car within 5 hours. A good job well done.
As I said I my previous review when they changed the Front Pads and Discs, that if I need another job doing, they would get my business. They collected my car on the time and day I agreed and returned it to me that morning. The gentleman that collected and delivered my car back to me was very polite and helpful. I was very impressed with the staff and the work done to my car. I will definitely use them again if I have a problem with my car. I don't need to look elsewhere and they were local to my place of works. The price and service was by far better than the main dealer. Thanks SMS Motors. Phil
Apparently Good service Time will tell more
Genuine honest workshop ✊
Great service from start to finish, collected and delivered my car back. She now runs better then ever after having the 80% of ash blocking her DPF filter cleaned out.
One of the best garage i have used since years. Lots additional work done pick up drop off in less than 24 h.
Good customer service they went above and beyond to fit me in at short notice
Great garage! Found the cause of my DPF fault that even the main dealer could not pinpoint. Kept me informed throughout and, although the cost rose due to unforseen difficulties, I was given options as to the best way to proceed without any 'hard sell' with a firm quote so no unexpected surprises when the final bill arrived. The car was collected and delivered back to my home and I even had a promise of a car wash at another time due to being unable to do it at the time of the work being carried out due to the awful weather. My car is now driving better than ever with no faults showing at all now. Highly recommended.
Mark is one of the best mechanics I’ve ever used - completely honest and very knowledgeable compared to others. Have found my new mechanic to use for sure
Excellent work. Efficient, friendly and professional. Thanks Mark! Will definitely recommend and use again.
Excellent communications and service, would use him again and definitely recommend him
Mark was great. Found the problem very quickly. The car was old and so fixing it was more than the cars worth so decided its best to replace the car so Mark just charged the investigation fee as agreed. Great Mechanic.
The garage was quick to respond and got me in as soon as he could. He even offered to give me a lift to work when I dropped the vehicle off. Would definitely recommend and would use again.
Great service at a good price. I will now use them for a car service
Great service, good price, quick to respond & repair excellent all round happy to recommend, cheers Simon
Simon was open and honest. Carried out inspection and carried out repairs that were overdue. Passed MOT following his work. Will definitely consider using VFM again. Thanks Simon.

A brake, or brake pad is a system that safely enables a car to stop. Brakes get rid of the kinetic energy that helps the car move, which is done by using force of friction to convert this motion of energy into heat. Your car's braking system is made up of the following components: Brake discs, which spin with your car's wheels, Brake Pads, which push on the discs to slow the car, Brake Calipers which hold, and push, the pads, Brake Lines (or 'Hoses') which carry Brake Fluid, and your Brake Master Cylinder and Servo, which work to amplify the effort you use when pushing the brake pedal. Wear or failure of any one of these components will cause braking problems, requiring repair.
Modern cars have brakes on all four wheels which are operated by a hydraulic system and are made up of several components all of which are subject to stress which could result in breakage.
The front brakes in a car are typically the ones which play the greater part in bringing a car to stop as the weight of the car is thrown forward every time the vehicle comes to a stop.
There are different systems used for braking from one car to the next which suits the needs of the vehicle size and function.
The common hydraulic system uses fluid to apply pressure to pistons in the car close to its wheels to bring the car to a halt.
Some cars also have power brake assistance which helps to reduce the amount of effort required to apply stopping power.
If you need to have your brakes repaired there are several issues that could have caused the problem and several things that could be affected.
If you suspect you need your brakes repaired but your car is still drivable, there are some symptoms which could give you clues as to what the problem is.
The brakes are often the noisiest part of a car if there is an issue which means you should be able to hear a problem which cannot be said of many other broken car parts. Therefore, noticing the need for a car brake repair should be obvious. But you can check faulty brake symptoms here.
Brake pads are a critical component of a car and a vehicle cannot come to a halt without them functioning properly. Brake pads are fitted to the brake calipers which push the pads into the brake discs which are fitted to a car wheel. When a car is moving, the pads grip the discs to slow down the wheel and thus slow the car down.
A high amount of heat energy is created from the resulting friction as explained above and over time, this will wear brake pads down.
Brake pad replacement is a common job, the work to remove a worn-down-set is not complex so if you require a brake pad replacement, the repair will not be a lengthy one.
If you would like to understand how to tell when your brakes need servicing read our dedicated guide.
Brake discs are fitted to the car wheel itself and they are gripped by the brake pads.
Brake discs replacement is more expensive; the parts are more expensive than pads. Often pads are placed at the same time the discs are replaced.
If a mechanic advises you to replace your brake discs, they will likely suggest replacing the pads at the same time due to a the low cost of the part and the little extra labour time needed.
The cost of brake pad replacement may vary depending on the car make and model. This is because there are different sizes of brake pads and the cost increases as they get bigger. For example, a Land Rover will require a bigger set of brake pads as opposed to a Fiat Punto.

If you want a good brake pad deal, you can compare quotes from garages near you by entering you details at the top of the page.
If you specifically require brake disc replacement, the work will take a similar amount of time to a brake pad replacement.
However, as highlighted above, the cost will be more expensive that pads due to the parts pricing.
Brake pads are changed by removing the wheel and unscrewing the bolts which hold the part in place. The part is then simply taken off the brake caliper and a new brake pad is fitted. The same process will be applied for each of the pads that need to be replaced.
There are many other common issues which can arise with the braking system which are not connected to brake pads and discs issues. The brake lines are susceptible to leakage as brake fluid can leak from the system if rust is untreated. The master cylinder is also a part of the braking system which can become faulty.
