Friendly, professional and honest service
Dropped my car off Saturday morning. Had it ready to collect just after 4. Was great service, no fuss at all! Will definitely be returning.
Collected my car as arranged, they carried out repair and returned my car, very polite and courteous. The bill was as the estimated quote. Very pleased with the service.
A great garage doing complex work. They changed my timing chain on a skoda Fabia 1.2 tsi, other garages I tried wouldn’t touch this job. The service was great, they a pleasant and even delivered my car back when Icouldnt get to them. Highly recommend.
Did job well. Cambelt and waterpump. On saturday. Thanks
Great service start to finish
Great service, will always use their service
My price didn't include the oil as my car takes synthetic oil. I checked with the garage before I went in to see if the oil suppliments charge applies to my car and it did so check beforehand as it does say on the message that an oil suppliment may apply. That way tou will knoe the exace price as they do make this clear that there may be an additional charge. On the day the garage was nice they asked for 2 hours and it was completed within that time and there's refreshments and Wi-Fi available in waiting room and local shops to loom round while your waiting. I recommend this branch.
Great service, even worked an extra 20 mins to ensure I had the car back that day.
great service and new tyre i ncluded in price
excellent service on time came to my work place, done a great job great price, will use again thanks.
Jag did a fine job. Coming to the house at a convenient time for us was great (he and his colleague worked in the dark!) and he was easy to communicate with throughout. Most importantly, the job was clearly done successfully. We've recommended him already.
After having 2 other mechanics not be able to fix my car, JAG got it done. With a new part my car is working fine 100% recommend and i'm deferentially using him again if i need any more work done.
Very helpful workers the part was fitted at 1st was the wrong one but they sorted it out as soon as the can and came back the next day to fit it would recommend this garage and IF ne more problems with my car they will be the 1st I will call
We had a slight confusion over the booking but to his credit, he got to me later in the day and did the work very quickly. Sadly it turns out there's another issue - so I'm hoping to get him back again! Which says it all really.
Excellent customer service. A good 'old school garage with wealths of experience. Kept in the loop the entire time and they took care of.my vehicle as if it was their own. No scratches anywhere. I've spent years looking for a reliable honest service from a mechanic and I've found it. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Very happy.
Very good service
Good job well done
Booked the job the day before for new brake pads. Replaced in approx half an hour with 12 month warranty. Great service and honest advice. Will definitely use again for future work.
Added some extras
Brilliant service picked my car up fromBbirmingham 8.30am kept for 2 days new clutch plus service great price. Did it 4 months ago waiting to see how it went no problem would recommend.
Had my clutch replaced on my Cleo here a few weeks back now and couldn't really fault their customer service. Original quote was £260 which I was very sceptical about, considering Halford wanted nearly £800 off me which was a definite no. In the end cost £400 because a couple of bits were worn out as well which considering you're getting a quote without anyone actually looking at the car it's expected to go up a bit.but in the end new clutch and a service and everything works perfectly 3 weeks on.drives like a brand new car and they managed to do it in a day even with me forgetting to give them the locking nuts so they couldn't start the work till 11 and I had the car back at 4.very happy with all the work and service done.would recommend completely!
Good service, very pleased
good service price was right I will be using them from now on
Very helpful, they listened and advised. I would recommend these 100% polite. I will be using them in future
Exellent staff, explained everything clearly, highly recommended!
Work wasn’t required, but very professional on the phone.
Good job !!
Fast, effective and efficient service.
Full service - amazing garage and lovely people will definitely be back . Thank you
Great service & very helpful - made me aware that all my brakes & disc were unsafe and gave me a great price to fix them all.
Very good service and price.would definitely use again. The work was very good as well.
As I was new to the area and was worried about not using my usual garage over in West Brom. After reading the reviews I went with SMB. I went in thinking I needed brake pads. After a thorough inspection by Simon (very, very thorough) he pointed out it was worn tyres that were causing the problem. I was very impressed by the service and the honesty. A unscrupulous mechanic could easily charge you for both jobs. In this case tyres were the cheaper option than brakes. I'll definitely be using SMB for any future work I need.
Replied with a quote within an hour. The service was brilliant and the job was finished within 2 hours.

A brake, or brake pad is a system that safely enables a car to stop. Brakes get rid of the kinetic energy that helps the car move, which is done by using force of friction to convert this motion of energy into heat. Your car's braking system is made up of the following components: Brake discs, which spin with your car's wheels, Brake Pads, which push on the discs to slow the car, Brake Calipers which hold, and push, the pads, Brake Lines (or 'Hoses') which carry Brake Fluid, and your Brake Master Cylinder and Servo, which work to amplify the effort you use when pushing the brake pedal. Wear or failure of any one of these components will cause braking problems, requiring repair.
Modern cars have brakes on all four wheels which are operated by a hydraulic system and are made up of several components all of which are subject to stress which could result in breakage.
The front brakes in a car are typically the ones which play the greater part in bringing a car to stop as the weight of the car is thrown forward every time the vehicle comes to a stop.
There are different systems used for braking from one car to the next which suits the needs of the vehicle size and function.
The common hydraulic system uses fluid to apply pressure to pistons in the car close to its wheels to bring the car to a halt.
Some cars also have power brake assistance which helps to reduce the amount of effort required to apply stopping power.
If you need to have your brakes repaired there are several issues that could have caused the problem and several things that could be affected.
If you suspect you need your brakes repaired but your car is still drivable, there are some symptoms which could give you clues as to what the problem is.
The brakes are often the noisiest part of a car if there is an issue which means you should be able to hear a problem which cannot be said of many other broken car parts. Therefore, noticing the need for a car brake repair should be obvious. But you can check faulty brake symptoms here.
Brake pads are a critical component of a car and a vehicle cannot come to a halt without them functioning properly. Brake pads are fitted to the brake calipers which push the pads into the brake discs which are fitted to a car wheel. When a car is moving, the pads grip the discs to slow down the wheel and thus slow the car down.
A high amount of heat energy is created from the resulting friction as explained above and over time, this will wear brake pads down.
Brake pad replacement is a common job, the work to remove a worn-down-set is not complex so if you require a brake pad replacement, the repair will not be a lengthy one.
If you would like to understand how to tell when your brakes need servicing read our dedicated guide.
Brake discs are fitted to the car wheel itself and they are gripped by the brake pads.
Brake discs replacement is more expensive; the parts are more expensive than pads. Often pads are placed at the same time the discs are replaced.
If a mechanic advises you to replace your brake discs, they will likely suggest replacing the pads at the same time due to a the low cost of the part and the little extra labour time needed.
The cost of brake pad replacement may vary depending on the car make and model. This is because there are different sizes of brake pads and the cost increases as they get bigger. For example, a Land Rover will require a bigger set of brake pads as opposed to a Fiat Punto.

If you specifically require brake disc replacement, the work will take a similar amount of time to a brake pad replacement.
However, as highlighted above, the cost will be more expensive that pads due to the parts pricing.
Brake pads are changed by removing the wheel and unscrewing the bolts which hold the part in place. The part is then simply taken off the brake caliper and a new brake pad is fitted. The same process will be applied for each of the pads that need to be replaced.
There are many other common issues which can arise with the braking system which are not connected to brake pads and discs issues. The brake lines are susceptible to leakage as brake fluid can leak from the system if rust is untreated. The master cylinder is also a part of the braking system which can become faulty.
