Great friendly service
Absolutely fantastic service; friendly, professional and they kept me informed every step of the way. Very reasonably priced and trustworthy, too. Highly recommend.
Took in a second hand vehicle that I purchased off someone for a full service. The team at Smile Servicing were very professional and upon assessing the vehicle, advised me not to waste my money on servicing as it has a faulty gearbox so I took the car back from where I bought it and got my money back! They were very honest and professional throughout the whole process and I cannot recommend them enough. Will definitely use them again. Confident enough to say, Smile Servicing & Repairs is the BEST garage that I have been to in Portsmouth! Thanks a million guys!
Nathan was brilliant. Came within 48 hours and was the first to respond to our request. He came out after normal work hours once we were home from work. Will definately use again.

Established in 1974, Formula One Autocentres set out with a mission to deliver a completely new fast-fit experience to its customers. This would feature clean, modern premises, high-tech equipment and highly trained technicians; far removed from the kind of service normally associated with the industry.
Forty years down the line, we have grown to become one of the UK’s largest independent autocentre chains. The business remains family owned and continues to uphold its original commitment to delivering the highest quality service at the most competitive prices.
That commitment has proved incredibly popular with motorists, creating many thousands of loyal customers who continue to put their trust in Formula One Autocentres.
As a result, the company has gone from strength to strength, currently boasting over 85 state-of-the-art branches across England, with over 500 highly trained staff working seven days a week to provide a full range of services including tyres, exhausts, batteries, brakes, clutches, MOT's and servicing.
We remain resolutely independent, and as a family owned business, avoid being tied down to any single manufacturer or supplier. This gives us the freedom and flexibility to offer the biggest deals on the widest possible range of top branded products, making the company a viable, attractive and cost-effective alternative to both the big national chains and smaller local independent outlets. Quite simply, Formula One Autocentres provides cost-conscious motorists with the most reliable and affordable means of maintaining their vehicles.
We defend our position at the forefront of the fast-fit industry by constantly evolving and developing innovative new products and services to meet the ever-changing demands of our customers. With an ongoing expansion programme and by regular investment in technology, we continue to provide unbeatable fast-fit service along with the very best value prices. In fact, we can confidently claim that no other company is better equipped to face the motoring challenges of the future.
Great service, by knowledgeable friendly guys. Glad to find the garage had members of staff who were ex BMW service department staff- this gave me great piece of mind that the car was going to be fixed to a high standard. Had a list of jobs, and this was all finished within a day- Will be returning so long as I'm stationed down in the area. Thanks guys!
PGS were fantastic. Took my daughters car in, conducted their diagnostic check, ascertained a faulty battery. Replaced the battery in super quick time. Keep us informed of the progress. Highly recommended. Thank you very much to PGS staff, you guys were great.

Chris and the team were helpful from start to finish. They came out best on price and the service was excellent. The car is running better then it has inn years. Thank you to all involved.
The scale of the job was much more than i first thought, Mike was open and kept me informed. The work was conpleted in a timely manner and the free pick up and drop off service is a real plus. Would definitely recommend and use again in the future.
Brilliant friendly, efficient service. Happy to do a job some other garages had turned down as too complex. Highly recommended.
An excellent service at an excellent price. The above price included a cam-belt and water pump change, oil and air filter change and a C3 oil change. Polite and friendly staff who also loaned me a courtesy car whilst the job was done. If I could I would award them six stars. Well done.

The cambelt is a rubber belt which controls the timing of a vehicle’s internal combustion engines. It is vital in the process of making the vehicle run smoothly as it also ensures the crankshaft and camshaft rotate in synchronisation.
A snapped cambelt is uncommon however tension issues are more widespread.
If the belt is too loose it will end up whipping around inside the engine which will cause a variety of knock on effects and if the belt is too tight it will put a strain on the bearings of the cogs it's fitted to.
A tight belt will cause a whining noise to be emitted from the engine so if you hear this sound make sure to book a repair as soon as possible. You shouldn’t wait until this happens though, as the damage caused by a faulty cambelt will end up costing you even more money in repairs.
As you will see in the FAQ section and video above, the cost of a cambelt repair can vary depending on the vehicle and garage. The biggest cost associated with this job type will be the labour itself.
This is because the parts are based deep within the engine and getting to them takes time. The components themselves won’t cost you a huge amount as they are not complex so don’t be surprised to see labour costs making up the biggest part of the bill.
Even if your cambelt doesn’t completely break its important to keep an eye on the component as per the instructions provided by your cars manufacturer, if you leave it for too long, the belt could snap and cause catastrophic engine failure.
The cambelt will need replacing at some point, usually around the 30,000 – 50,000 mile mark but make sure to consult the vehicles owner’s manual to double check as it may vary depending on the vehicle.

However, it is impossible to predict cambelt replacement cost as each car is different, as is the extent of damage.
The cost to change a timing belt should not vary from the cost to change a cambelt as they are literally the same thing.
So if you want to know how much to change a timing belt, you can use the form at the top of this page to get a quote for a new timing belt.
If you want to replace timing belt and want to find out the timing belt change cost from local garages, make sure to use WhoCanFixMyCar.
Timing belt replacement cost will vary from one car to another however timing belt repalcement should not be the most expensive repair.
Remember, if you want to replace timing belt yourself, don't! Trying to carry out a repair yourself is incredibly dangerous!
Replace timing belt cost will only spiral out of control if you attempt it yourself and then take it to a garage for timing belt change.
The last thing you want is timing belt change cost to increase!
