Over the years, Citroen has come up with more than a few quirky ideas. The second car it produced, the 1922 Type C 5HP, became known as the ‘petit citron' (little lemon) because of its small size and the yellow paint colour you could order it in. Since then, there has been the Citroen Picasso, taking inspiration from Pablo Picasso's use of shape. The Citroen DS 19 was the vehicle of choice for the French President Charles de Gaulle, who survived an assassination attempt in 1962 thanks to the car's superior suspension system, allowing his chauffeur to drive away after two of the tyres were shot.
Launched in 2006, the Citroen C1 shares components with the notoriously reliable Toyota Aygo, allowing it to compete with rival city cars like the Hyundai i10. It's cheap to run, with outstanding fuel economy and few common problems. The main things to look out for are issues with the infotainment system and worn interior components. Generally, the C1 is affordable to repair, though fixing bodywork damage can be costly relative to the price of the car. In WhatCar?'s 2023 reliability survey, it was the joint 8th most reliable small used car, matching the Skoda Citigo, though Citroen finished last for reliability as a brand.
An interim car service - sometimes called a minor car service - involves inspecting several key car components and systems, including a safety assessment, engine oil change and fluid check.
The car service schedule for an interim service is every six months or every six thousand miles. As a driver, following this guidance is smart because if you don't, you may not realise a problem is developing, and it could cost you more money later down the line. Interim services can catch potential problems early.
The difference between an interim and full service is the number of components checked; a full service is more comprehensive. Likewise, the difference between a vehicle health check and interim service is that the former only includes the inspection of various parts. In contrast, the latter may consist of an oil change and the topping up of other fluids.
