For Ford, the Ka was a pioneering car in Europe - the first example of a new design generation called New Edge. Though no longer in production, its impact on the emerging city car segment in the 1990s will be remembered, even as drivers move towards small SUVs like the Puma. With a top speed of 100 to 110 mph, depending on the engine configuration, the Ka has never been about raw power; instead, it provides a small and economical option for urban driving, earning the title of 'Best City Car' from WhatCar? in 1999.
