Infiniti is a division of Nissan responsible for producing high-performance luxury vehicles. It is part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance - the most prominent automotive alliance in the world, established in 1999. It has a strong history in motorsport, sponsoring Red Bull before signing a technical partnership with the Renault F1 team in 2016, though Infiniti has since withdrawn from its involvement in Formula 1. In 2018, Infiniti partnered with Marvel Studios to promote its XQ50 model in the Avengers: Infinity Wars film, in which Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was seen driving the vehicle before being turned to dust.
The Q30 - a compact luxury hatchback from Japanese car maker Infiniti - was produced between 2016 and 2019 before the brand withdrew from the European market. It has a unique style and comes packed with plenty of kit, earning praise for the quality and comfort of its interior, including a spacious boot. Top speeds for the Q30 range between 120 and 140 mph for different engines, with a 0-60 time of seven to ten seconds. In 2015, it was awarded 'Best-in-Class Small Family Car' by Euro NCAP. Since the Q30 is a rare car in the UK, common faults can only be identified through recalls. The airbags and seat belts are the main problem areas.
EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation. The EGR valve links the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. It plays a vital role in helping to reduce the amount of NOx emitted from a car. Learn more about how it works here.
Over time, EGR valves can become clogged due to a build-up of soot, and when this happens, an EGR valve clean or replacement is required. Common symptoms of an EGR fault include rough idling, erratic engine functioning (including stalling), increased fuel consumption and higher emissions.
Some manufacturers recommend using an EGR cleaning service every 50,000 miles; doing so helps prevent performance issues and extends the component's life.
EGR valves typically have a lifespan of around ten years. After this time, it's best to book an EGR valve replacement if you experience any of the symptoms listed above. A stuck EGR valve will speed up the process of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) becoming blocked.
