Infiniti is a division of Nissan responsible for producing high-performance luxury vehicles. It is part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance - the most prominent automotive alliance in the world, established in 1999. It has a strong history in motorsport, sponsoring Red Bull before signing a technical partnership with the Renault F1 team in 2016, though Infiniti has since withdrawn from its involvement in Formula 1. In 2018, Infiniti partnered with Marvel Studios to promote its XQ50 model in the Avengers: Infinity Wars film, in which Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was seen driving the vehicle before being turned to dust.
The Q50 - a mid-sized premium executive saloon introduced in 2014 - is a standout model in Infiniti's lineup. It offers luxury, technology and style, resulting in a model that is easy on the eyes and capable of competing with class-leading rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Top speeds range between 120 and 155 mph.
In the US, where Infiniti is much more prominent, the Q50 is multi-award-winning. In 2021, for instance, it received the AutoPacific 'Vehicle Satisfaction Award' in the Standard Luxury Car category. There is a known problem with the brake pedal feeling spongy in some Q50s; this issue can be resolved by replacing the master cylinder.
The clutch and gearbox work together in a manual transmission to facilitate gear changes, determining the amount of power available from the engine. Unfortunately, several things can go wrong within this system, requiring an urgent repair.
