The first official Jeep models were light reconnaissance vehicles created for military applications during World War II. Over the years, the Wrangler - Jeep's most iconic car - has made over a thousand appearances on the big screen, including in the Jurassic Park franchise. However, the Grand Cherokee has achieved the most fame with over 1,500 appearances. Just as impressive was the 1963 Jeep Wagoneer, the first luxury SUV. The Cherokee, an iconic and versatile SUV introduced in 1974, underwent several transformations to become a modern and capable vehicle in the Jeep lineup before it was discontinued in 2023. It was the first unibody SUV, creating a revolutionary format commonly used today that incorporates the body, floorboards and other elements into one large structure. Top speeds for the Cherokee range between 115 and 130 mph, with a 0-60 acceleration of seven to 10 seconds. Engine reliability is a known problem, and the DPF is prone to clogging in diesel models.
