The first official Jeep models were light reconnaissance vehicles created for military applications during World War II. It was crowned 'Best SUV of 2023' by Cars.com and 'Best Midsize Utility Vehicle' at the 2023 MotorWeek Driver's Choice Awards, to name just two examples. Its off-road performance is class-leading, though a few reviewers claim it lacks refinement on the road. Common problems with the Grand Cherokee include squeaky suspension, leaking door seals and fogged-up headlights.
Automatic gearboxes use hydraulic power to change gears. A torque converter connects the engine to the transmission and uses pressurised fluid to transfer power to the gears. Because this system is more complex, there is more scope for it to develop problems, requiring an automatic gearbox repair.
