What are the main Convertible Roof parts?

The main components of a convertible roof are the fabric hood itself, the rubber seals that ensure a tight fit around windows and doors, the frame (holding the roof in its shape) and the mechanism for opening and closing the roof - either manual, electric or hydraulic.

What are the most common Convertible Roof issues?

The most common issues with a convertible are: failure of the electric or hydraulic opening/closing system, degrading or leaking rubber window seals, a 'smoky' or opaque rear window, or damage caused by deliberate vandalism. Our garages in are equipped to deal with all of these.

How can I fix a leaking Convertible Roof?

First, one of our specialists will want to inspect the car to isolate the issue, most commonly a loose, torn or degraded rubber seal no longer providing a tight fit. Seal components can be replaced individually at relatively low cost, and even treated with aviation sealant.

My Convertible Roof won't go up (or down). What is the issue?

The issue will be with the electric motor, the hydraulics, or the gearing/struts/wires that connect the motor to the roof frame. A garage in will methodically isolate the issue and resolve it. This is the most complex part of a convertible roof and isn't a DIY fix.

How can I prevent Convertible Roof problems?

Simple - use it! Make sure to raise and lower the roof a few times in winter and you'll prevent jamming. Plus, driving a convertible in winter, with the heater on, can be fun.
