The maximum MOT test price that a garage can charge is set by the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Currently, the maximum cost is set at £54.85 for cars and caravans.
If you have bought a used car recently, an MOT certificate from the previous owner will be included in the documents you receive when you buy the car, this will inform you of the next due date.
